Local is lekker!

What always takes me by surprise when I am working with groups of people is the number of super-talented people we have in SA. I’m horrified to find that I occasionally fall into the “if it’s local it’s not good” mindset. What is with that? We have artists, performers, musicians who are out there commanding top dollar alongside some of the international greats. Did you know South Africans invented the Creepy Crawly, Pratley glue, the palm tree inside which lurks the MTN cell tower and of course my all time personal favourite the trolley at the airports – you know the one that clips onto the escalator so you don’t have to hold it or fall back – Local is Lekkerwards under the weight of metal and luggage as you wrestle on the way up. South Africans compete successfully in many other arenas.
